• Attachment- Based Family Therapy

  • Gottman Method Couples Therapy

    This couple/relationship-based approach was developed by John Gottman, a well-known researcher, and therapist in the field of couples and relationships. According to Gottman, the goals of Gottman Method Couples Therapy are to dissolve conflicting verbal communication; increase intimacy, respect, and affection; remove barriers that create a feeling of stagnancy, and create a heightened sense of empathy and understanding within the context of the relationship.

    According to the EMDR International Association (EMDRIA), EMDR is an extensively researched psychotherapy method that has been effective in treating trauma and other distressing life experiences. EMDR is different from the traditional ‘talk therapy’ as it involves minimal talking in detail about the distressing event, rather, it is focused on changing the emotions, thoughts, or behaviors resulting from the distressing issue by allowing the brain to engage in its natural healing process.

    Cognitive-behavioral therapy is a psycho-social intervention that aims to improve mental health. CBT focuses on challenging and changing cognitive distortions and behaviors, improving emotional regulation, and developing personal coping strategies that target solving current problems.

    MOTIVATIONAL ENHANCEMENT THERAPY

    MET treatment goal is to help patients resolve any ambivalence they may have about change and catalyze or mobilize that intrinsic motivation or commitment to make those changes.
